Oct. 12-14 Michigan Alliance for Environmental & Outdoor Education Conference in Tustin, MI
Theme: Connecting With Nature Across the Curriculum

Dear Educator:
We would like to invite you to submit a presentation proposal to the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE)
Conference this fall, October 12–14, 2012 at the Kettenun Center in Tustin, just 12 miles south of Cadillac. We are very excited about the opportunities this venue has to offer plenty of room and a variety of settings for presentations and field trips.

MAEOE is seeking presenters, field trip leaders, and Share-A-Thon participants for the 2012 conference.
See the presenter proposal form (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MAEOE2012Conference ) or on the MAEOE website. The deadline for
presentation proposals is May 15, but we strongly encourage you to submit as soon as possible. We hope to have many of the presenters identified by May 1st to use in conference promotion and publicity.

We have five strands identified, but all topics are invited for consideration:
Great Lakes Literacy- Addressing Great Lakes Education through Math, Science, Social Studies and the Arts.
Best Practices-Highlight grant writing, working with volunteers, creating and sustaining a long term environmental program.
Placed Based Education-Case Studies of what works, what doesn’t and how PBE can be effective in creating the Environmental Stewards of the
Future.
Fun with Flora and Fauna- Creative Math, Science, Social Studies, Music and Art activities that engage young people in nature
STEM Education – Using STEM outside and in the environment
There are several formats and time lengths to choose from for your presentation:
 Friday, October 12: 4 or 8 hour educator workshops and field trips (8-noon and 1pm - 5 pm).
 Saturday, October 13: 60, 90 or 120 minute breakout sessions and Share-A-Thon. The Share-A-Thon will feature Environmental and
Outdoor Education activity stations that demonstrate fun activities and creative teaching practices. Share a 15-minute “mini-lesson” or
“Make & Take” activity at the Share-A-Thon (90 minutes total). Participants receive a stamp for each session they attend and enter their
stamped card into a raffle. Presenters are encouraged to provide handouts for participants.
 Sunday, October 15: 45-60 minute presentations and Field Trips.

Each presenter (2 max per session) will receive a $25.00 discount per day they present off their total conference fee.
