LSSI mini-grant applications due
The Western UP Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education has received funding from Great Lakes Fishery Trust to continue the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative. The Western UP Center is pleased to make available to individual LSSI teams funds to enable schools to implement community-based learning opportunities through stewardship projects.

LSSI teams are eligible from the following schools: Pelkie Elementary, CLK Elementary, EB Holman, Lake Linden Hubbell Elementary, CJ Sullivan Elementary, Washington Middle School, L’Anse Middle School, Hancock Middle School, Lake Linden Hubbell Middle School, BRIDGE High School, Chassell High School, Horizons High School, Hancock High School and Jeffers High School.

LSSI teams may apply for up to $5500 in LSSI funding, depending upon actual documented need.

Successful team applications must demonstrate how classroom learning and service to the community are integrated into a learning experience. In addition, teams must have completed a project team registration form and a plan for professional development.

Grant applications should be typed and address each component of the grant application. Grant applications will be accepted from October – June 30, 2010. Grant Applications are reviewed on a regular basis during the LSSI Advisory Board Meetings. Applicants will have an opportunity to re-submit proposals as necessary to address any deficiencies identified in the review process.
