The Lake Superior Stewardship
Initiative (LSSI) is part of the statewide
Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative (GLSI)
launched by the Great Lakes Fishery Trust in
January 2008 with financial support from the
Wege Foundation.
The Western Upper Peninsula Center for
Science, Mathematics and Environmental
Education is the grant recipient.
2012 marks LSSI’s fifth year.
Each year, LSSI needs to raise a greater
portion of its operating costs. By June
2013, LSSI needs to raise $75,000 in cash or
donations to receive continued funding from
the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative for
future years.
Currently LSSI engages:

Keweenaw & Baraga counties

77 Teachers in grades K-12
o

Houghton, Baraga and Keweenaw Counties
Those wishing to make a cash
donation may:
(1)
Contribute directly to
a specific school-community project;
(2)
Contribute to the
school foundation where a particular project
takes place
(3)
Contribute directly to
LSSI and earmark your contribution for a
specific purpose, such as, teacher
workshops, school mini-grants, annual
celebration, etc. Mail your contribution
