$15K for Outdoor Science Investigation Field Trip Program for 2014-15 School Year
Mary & Jim Nelson from Ada, MI have provided $15,000 to continue the Outdoor Science Investigation Field Trip Program for the 2014-15 School Year. The Nelsons and their Kinship Foundation have provided the primary support for the Outdoor Science Investigation Program since 2007. In the 2013-14 school year, 2489 K-8 students in 112 classes from 17 schools in the CCISD and GOISD participated in field trips during fall, winter, or spring led by the Field Trip Coordinator located at the Michigan Tech Center for Science & Environmental Outreach office.

Marcy Erickson is New Outdoor Science Investigation Field Trip Coordinator for 2014-15 School Year. Marcy Erickson was hired at the beginning of the school year to coordinate the Outdoor Science Investigation Field Trip Program after both of last year’s coordinators, Erica Thompson and Chad Norman, moved away last summer. Marcy earned a B.S. in Applied Ecology and Environmental Science (2007), secondary science teacher certification (2009), and Integrated Science (2013) from Michigan Tech. She has 2 years of classroom teaching experience, and many years of teaching informal science in after school, family science and summer programs.
