Public is invited to Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative's Celebration of Energy, Sustainability at MTU's Great Lakes Research Center
Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center will be the scene of a Lake Superior Celebration of Energy and Sustainability on Thursday, April 23. The event is free and open to the public.

HOUGHTON -- A Lake Superior Celebration of Energy and Sustainability will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 23, at Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC) in Houghton.

The public is invited to tour the GLRC, participate in hands-on activities, explore local resources and celebrate the achievements of student and community groups now working on renewable energy projects.

Hands-On Activities
- Great Lakes Research Center tours
- Energy efficient homes, wind turbines, draft dodger and other activities for youth
- MTU Sustainable Vehicle Lab

Local Resources
- Renewable energy experts
- Green burial initiative
- Local greenhouses
- Houghton County recycling plan

The event is sponsored by Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative; Michigan Technological University; Western U.P. Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education; and Houghton Energy Efficiency Team (HEET).
