May 12-15 Lake Superior Youth Symposium Registration Open!

Celebrate Spring on the Shores of Lake Superior at the 9th Biennial Lake Superior Youth Symposium May 12-15 at Northland College.

The Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute of Northland College in Ashland, WI invites 6-12th grade students and their teachers to attend the 9th Biennial Lake Superior Youth Symposium Thursday-Sunday, May 12-15, 2011.

Are you a fan of the Great Lakes and trout fishing? Or do you like to canoe and rock-climb? Whatever "floats your boat" in the Lake Superior watershed, the Youth Symposium has it for you!

For the past 16 years, the Lake Superior Youth Symposium has been bringing students and teachers from
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ontario together to celebrate something we all care about and share: our love for Lake Superior.

The symposium is a four-day event designed to educate students and teachers on the science, history, culture and beauty of Lake Superior. This year's event will take place at Northland College where symposium participants will take part in many fun-filled activities---paddling an historic voyageur canoe, rock-climbing, working with scientists, making Lake Superior art, and so much more.

Cost per person is just $125 and includes meals, field trips, and a T-shirt. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Lake Superior Lodge in Ashland. Each room sleeps four, at $70 per night. For reservations, call (800) 452-7749. The rooms will be reserved until May 1st.

For more information, contact the 2011 Symposium Coordinator, Alan Craig, at 715-682-1392, acraig@northland.edu or visit the website CLICK HERE
