The LSSI Advisory Board approved continuation funding for Hancock High School's PEAK Project, co-led by science teacher Brian Rajdl and Stephen Smith, and for Washington Middle School's Adopt-a-Beach project spearheaded by 7th grade science teacher, Darrell Hendrickson, in partnership with the entire 6th and 7th grade teaching staff. First time funding for Horizons High School was also approved. Horizons High School's project is to work with the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge to help them become an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Golf Course. This plan will have five components: (i)Environmental Planning, (ii) Wildlife and Habitat Management, (iii) Chemical Use and Reduction Safety, (iv) Water Conservation, (v) Water Quality Management, in addition to Outreach and Education. Project funding is through February 2011.
