A participant listens to a student about their
School-Community Team Stewardship Project and its impact
on the Lake Superior Watershed.
The Lake Superior Celebration at
Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC) is a FREE
family-friendly event open to all!
The Lake Superior
Celebration has been in occurrence since 2008 in order to
highlight the work of the Lake Superior Stewardship
Initiative (LSSI) which brings schools and communities
together in the stewardship of Lake Superior and its
watershed. Every year there are displays and presentations
by students and local community partners and by Lake
Superior Stewardship Initiative
school-community teams. In addition, there are
informative displays by community organizations, local
growers and non-profit organizations and entrepreneurs.
During the Lake Superior Celebration students can get in
on the fun and learning with a variety of hands-on
activities for elementary students! There is live music, art
exhibits, a silent auction and light refreshments.
A school-community team delivers an oral
presentation describing the goal and impact of their
Stewardship Project to community members, parents and
administrators.
