Local Educators Present at Place-Based Education Conference in Grand Rapids
Eight teachers and community partners in the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative presented at the conference coordinated by the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative: Cindy McCormick (Jeffers High School), Kathleen Harter and Valerie Newman (Keweenaw National Historical Park), Evie Johnson (Copper Country Reading Council), Erika Vye (MTU Geological Sciences), Lloyd Wescoat, Joan Chadde, and Shawn Oppliger. Topics presented included: citizen science, scientific inquiry, integrating social studies and environmental stewardship, green film series, bioblitz, River of Words, and geoheritage education.
